The Multimedia Storytelling Revolution Rages On
Greetings and best of the new year to our many friends and clients.
2003 was a big year for Pepper Sunlight -- http://www.peppersunlight.com.
The little multimedia company that can has been pushing the boundaries
of documentary storytelling, cultural archiving and multimedia
expression and we’re very proud of the results.
Highlights include:
The Kaslo Jazz Festival | http://www.kaslojazzfest.com
Kaslo Jazz festival is the biggest up and coming jazz festival
in Canada. In 2003 PS took all their media assets and created
a whole new web presence for the site. The festival's new home
includes lots of multimedia goodies to help trace the history
of the event and follow it as it breaks new ground in 2004 and
beyond.
Graffiti's Bar and Grill | http://www.graffitisbarandgrill.com
Graffiti's is an institution in Toronto's Kensington Market. It
is the home of some of the best live roots, blues and country
music that Canada has to offer. PS combined photos, music and
video to create an archive of this venue's musical tradition past
and present. The tiny stage in Kensington has seen amazing performances
by the likes of Garth Hudson, Nathaniel Mayer, John Borra and
many more.
Geoff Berner 'Iron Grey' | http://www.torontonians.com/irongrey.mov
This is the second PS video for Canada's anarcoustic accordion
player, who has been traveling the world opening for some of the
world’s best punk folk acts, including Billy Bragg. This
video marks Pepper Sunlight's first project in 16mm film.
2004 promises to be an even bigger year for Pepper Sunlight.
Already, we've taken on the contract with the Kaslo Jazz Festival
to produce all their graphic documentation. Also a new documentary
site for the Cody Caves, one of Western Canada's natural wonders,
is in the final phase of production. And if that’s not enough,
PS president Pat Gemmill is just finishing two massive archival
projects for the Kootenay Lake Archives and the Silvery Slocan
Historical Society.
Look for all these projects and more from Pepper Sunlight in
the coming year. Thanks to everyone for your support and interest
in the exciting multimedia adventure that is Pepper Sunlight.
All the best,
Pat Gemmill
