TORONTO, ON, January 20, 2002 -- Canada’s only multimedia documentary production house has teamed up with the CBC Radio Three to produce Kingdom of Kensington, a multimedia portrait of Toronto’s Kensington Market.

The interactive story incorporates video, photos, text and interactive computer graphics to tell the story of some of the market’s most notorious characters and put them into the context of the history and commerce of the neighbourhood. The whole project was just released on the award-winning CBC Radio Three site, 120seconds.com (http://www.120seconds.com/index.cfm?movie=696).

Kensington Market is a village within the urban noise of Canada’s largest city. Come for a virtual visit and meet some of the artists, shopkeepers and characters that form the fabric of one of Toronto’s most unique and diverse neighbourhoods.

Come meet just a few of the locals. Meet local legends Tom of Tom’s place, Paris the hot sauce vendor and Frances Borg, mayor Mel’s ‘former babysitter’. Check out local artists Bunchofuckingoofs, Kurt Swinghammer, Sarah Dearing and Marty Smith. Meet the people of the world who bring the market to life, in the shops and cafes and all through the streets.

The project was produced by Pepper Sunlight Productions, the only Canadian production house of its kind. The Kingdom of Kensington was produced during the summer and fall of last year by convergent journalist, Andrew Yates and digital designer, Alec Home-Douglas.

Pepper Sunlight has been redefining history for the last year and a half as Canada’s first multimedia documentary house, having collaborated with the likes of Canada’s Digital Collections, the CBC Radio Three, and The Whistler Museum.

You are recommended to have a fast internet connection and decent computer processor power. Flash and Quicktime will be provided. A Pepper Sunlight (http://www.peppersunlight.com) Production. For more information contact info@peppersunlight.com or 604.836-5016.
